Ashita Adhikari started drawing in 2017 during college years and is currently pursuing her master’s degree.
“Being an art student since school, drawing was always my hobby. One day, I was scrolling through Instagram and came across so many comic artists who drew their life through amazing comics. I got inspired by them to draw things people could relate to instantly!” the artist told Bored Panda.#2

The artist says she doesn’t have to search for ideas, because her hilarious life situations keep her inspired.
“It could be just something in my daily routine, a funny incident from my life, pieces of conversations with people. Anything I experience and feel that it can make my audience smile. All my comics revolve around me. Haha. Self-obsessed. I’m the main character named ‘yellow pencil girl.’ My comics majorly reflects the tiny routine yet hilarious moments in the life of a girl.”#4

Adhikari says the most challenging thing about drawing comics is finding the motivation to get up and draw when she’s feeling down. But being able to express herself through a form she enjoys from her heart’s core is what compensates everything.
“Drawing is relaxing to me. It is a fulfilling experience when I sit down and draw a routine moment or a simple feeling I felt, giving it a relatable angle. It gives such pleasure when I see people relating to it and my work bringing smiles to their faces, sometimes even a laugh!”#6

The support from her followers and family keeps her going.
“The rawness of my comics is the best thing about my work. They are unfiltered, come straight out of my experiences and that’s why people can feel them. My audience has been wonderfully great. They’re so interactive and don’t leave a moment to make me feel praised enough for my work. I get as excited as a kid every time they tell me how much they like the comics. My followers even give me suggestions! I feel so happy that my mother loves my comics, too. She always says to include her in the comics, which I’ll do hopefully.”#8

“Drawing comics has taught me to cherish every moment of my life. I feel blessed to have a way of expression I can so strongly connect my emotions with,” says Adhikari.
She also advised upcoming comics artists who would like to share their work: “Have patience and thoroughly enjoy the process. When we start posting on social media, we sometimes get discouraged by the number of followers or fewer likes and responses. But when we enjoy our work, it gets reflected on our page, that makes our audience enjoy them too.”#10
