One could say photo manipulations are illusions created by heavy photo editing techniques. It is an art where ordinary photos are transformed into something alluring, surreal, and totally out of the box. Digital artist Hansruedi Ramsauer does just that, given that he happily switched his 20-year career in finance to become an artist. Right now, Hansruedi has over 52k followers on Instagram and a portfolio of over 500 works. His work has been featured by brands like Photoshop, Genesis USA, and Columbia EU. The artist has even held some exhibitions for his art too.
Given all of those things, Bored Panda reached out to Ramsauer.
“I’m a web designer and wanted to get better in Photoshop. In order to do so, I challenged myself to create one piece every day and posted it to Instagram. It was never meant to be art or anything like that. After 6 months, Photoshop reposted one of my images and from this moment, it never stopped going upwards. Last year, I had my first exhibitions in Switzerland and the next ones are already planned and I had the chance to work for major brands like @genesis_usa, @columbia_eu, and @photoshop. It still surprises me every day what has come from my original idea to just get better in Photoshop.
And I hope that I can inspire people to change their perspective when they are stuck in any way, as I believe that the perspective you have on your life creates your life.
Probably this makes it clearer: When you have a negative perspective on something, you can’t probably change the ‘something,’ but you can question your perspective.”

What would be your tip for those who are getting into photo editing/manipulation?
“Just go out for a walk, take some photos from your neighborhood, and go home and fill the photos with things and animals to the point where it looks realistic. In this way, you learn all techniques and it is fun to see what you get. And whenever you are stuck because of the perspective, colors, lights, or anything else, search for tutorials and get better. This can be hard sometimes, but can be fun as well when your results start improving.”#4
